Join us for our "Inaugural Kick for a Cure" Adult COED Kickball Tournament!
This event is open to the public and is designed to raise proceeds and awareness for Breast Cancer. We are looking for 8 COED teams who want to play a friendly game of Kickball for a very worthy cause.
Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. 1 in 8 women and 1 in 100 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their life time. Since the inception of Goombay-Charlotte, we too have lost family members to Cancer and would like to do something about it.
Studies show breast cancer impacts racial and ethnic groups differently. Women of Caucasian decent are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer followed by African American women along with the Hispanic & Latino community. Although the minority community has a lower rate of diagnosis, their death rate is higher than the majority. There is no absolute reason; however, many believe this is due to lack of knowledge and access to health care.
Unfortunately we may all have a family member, friend, and/or co-worker who has been affected by this deadly disease. We would like to do our part to join in the fight to assist those who have suffered or are currently in need of assistance from a disease that affects so many. Join Goombay-Charlotte as we work to raise awareness in our community and help those in need.
Register as a "Free Agent" for $25.00 or be a "Captain" of your team for $300.00. You or your team must be registered by September 17, 2016.
All Proceeds from this tournament will go to support Project Pink (Levine Cancer Institute), which serves to increase access to life-saving mammography screenings and follow-up care for those who are uninsured.
